The PMPEI Course in Community Planning is a three session in-depth course designed for planning commissioners and local officials in how to carry out their responsibilities under the PA Municipalities Planning Code. Participants learn where the planning commission fits into local government, how the commission relates to the elected governing body, the process of comprehensive planning, techniques for implementing plans, and how to be an effective planning commissioner. The course will include the current status of regulation of Unconventional Resource Extraction of the Marcellus and Utica shale gas formations in local planning programs.
